Two Funerals - Fading Glory

It began with the, "The President and the PM who have never had time to meet the Veterans or speak for the martyrs are tweeting for Mr Bonny Kapoor's second wife !!"...
Somehow somewhere the context advertantly or inadvertently seems to have changed...the goal post shifted. At no stage were any comparisons sought between any two funerals. There are no comparisons. One is a a presumed accidental death of a actress, the other lays down his life for his motherland.
It was all about the Supreme Commander and the honourable Prime Minister always maintaining a stoic silence when a Soldier lays down his life or not ever having any time to address the legitimate  grievances of the Veterans but both have time to tweet their condolences for the accidental death of an actress and doing everything short of declaring state mourning.
That is what my post was all about. Please read it in that context. 👊⚔

It is not a question of comparing. It is a question of honouring. Honouring the unquestioning supreme sacrifice a Soldier makes by laying down his life to ‘honour’ the ‘right or wrong’ political decision of his Political masters. Isn’t it, then, the duty of those very masters to ‘honour’ him in his death ? Don't we need recognition ? Don't we live in a society ?

We, the defenders as also the conscience keepers of the nation need to be aware who governs us. Most of our Political establishment and decision makers lack the necessary education (I refrained from using the term – un-educated) and are often elected from socio-economic backgrounds having limited intellect with no administrative training or skill to govern, hence the efficiency of the system largely depends on the Civil Servants/Bureaucrats for policy formulation and implementation and here-in lies the root of the problem. As you all are aware, there is no love lost between a Bureaucrat and the Armed Forces.

There has been a very sinister design to the consistent degradation of the Indian Armed Forces by it’s Political masters and this ‘unquestioning’ ‘incomparable’ ‘frog in a well’ concept has been one of the reasons for the marginalization and continuous degradation of the Indian Armed Forces since 1947. Please read this insightful book by Steve Wilkinson, “Army & Nation” to gain more insight to the conniving political machinations over the years by these wily politicians to make the Army a ‘toothless’ organization. Voiceless we always were.

Year on year these Political masters proudly unfurl the same national flag that our soldiers lay down their lives to defend and which flutters with the last breath of the dying soldier.

More than ever before, it is in this present day era of Social Media awareness that we need to exploit to be heard and to fight for our rightful place. As the old adage goes, ‘even a mother does not feed a baby looking content and happy’. Are we, the Indian Armed Forces content & happy ?

Alas, this same society which considers the Armed Forces of the Nation as it’s Flag Bearers often forgets that we normally ‘bear’ the flag from ‘ 6 feet under and not 6 feet over'. Yes there is no comparison !!!!
